I haven't had a diagnosis.
I went to A&E a couple of days ago with a heavy feeling in the centre of my chest, I felt lightheaded and had odd shooting pains in my chest. Lots of tests done and nothing cardiac related was found.
Today , I still feel very lightheaded and as if I'm not really here, I have a pain in my left lower ribs and also in the middle of my left breast, my wrist is really painful too and my legs feel weak. I called the GP who said give it a week and call back if I still feel the same .
I haven't had a cough or cold , my wee seems to be ok , normal colour etc.
I will obviously call the gp if I still feel the same next week but just wondered if anyone else has had similar.

Panic attacks?

BatFaceOwl · 09/03/2023 19:35

Sounds like a panic attack type thing

Newwardrobe · 09/03/2023 19:35

No I don't think it's a panic attack, I'm quite calm and don't feel stressed.

Agree - sounds like stress or anxiety induced panic

Newwardrobe · 09/03/2023 19:37

Would a panic attack last for 2 days?

Hiatal hernia - can cause a lot of weird symptoms.

LaLoose · 09/03/2023 19:46

Yes panic attacks can last for days. Unlike what it says on the nomorepanic and NHS websites. I regularly have them for 24-48 hours and have done for 35 years.

Whywaistedwyonna · 09/03/2023 19:46

If the GP is happy to leave you a week, it sounds like all the major illnesses were ruled out at A&E, chest infection, blood clots etc?

Could it be stomach related maybe - touch of gastritis which can certainly cause chest pains and make you feel pretty ropey.

Newwardrobe · 09/03/2023 19:49

@Whywaistedwyonna the doctor at the hospital did mention that, I haven't really had any trouble with my bowels apart from my tummy being slightly tender when he pushed it.

Did you have a chest x-ray at A&E? Sounds like when I had fluid on my lungs.

Newwardrobe · 09/03/2023 19:53

@LaLoose I didn't know that, I thought a panic attack was hyperventilating, sweating and panicking and didn't last very long, thank you for the info and sorry you experience them x

OP posts:
Newwardrobe · 09/03/2023 19:54

@HollyFern1110 yes chest X-ray was clear.

Did you test for Covid as that heaviness in your chest and other pains can signify Covid?

Cupofteaaa5 · 09/03/2023 20:06

It does sound like a panic attack (especially the "feel like I'm not really here" part - I always get that) but you said you felt calm... Hmm. Have you been through any stress lately? Sometimes it's possible to not realise you're stressed until your body starts to show you.

Of course it's totally possible it's something else, but I'm just going by my experience. I get tight chest, light headed, weak legs when I'm very anxious or stressed sometimes.

Newwardrobe · 09/03/2023 20:11

@junebirthdaygirl I haven't tested for covid.

For those saying it could be a panic attack, do you get actual physical pain with them? And how do I make it stop !?

Doesthepopeshitinthewoods · 09/03/2023 20:49

I don’t think it’s right to dismiss physical symptoms readily as ‘panic’.

eloquent · 09/03/2023 21:50

I have anxiety attacks and they can be invisible to others, I had one in my uni seminar last week and nobody noticed (I was okay and worked my way out of it, been having them years). I have generalised anxiety disorder, and I don't need to be stressed, or panicked or worried etc. They can happen any time.

I've also had bad gastritis diagnosed that ended up being gallstones which were removed.

I wouldn't rule out going back and asking for more tests.

Newwardrobe · 09/03/2023 22:15

Yes , I'm definitely going to go back if I'm still the same next week.
