Hi
I'm asking advice for a friend who is too embarrassed to see the gp or pharmacist.

She is overweight by a few stone and the area under her tummy is really red, sore and itchy - presumably where the skin has rubbed together.

She's covering the whole area in sudocream but isn't getting much improvement.

Is there anything else she can do - weight loss obviously will help long term but for now she's really uncomfortable.

Thanks.

What a shame, I really feel for her. I had this during lockdowns. I bathed in salt water baths daily or showers daily and cleaned with salt water. I dried the area well and didn't wear pants to allow the area to get plenty of air. I put savlon on the area twice a day. Cleared up in a day or two.

On tube has lasted me three years so far. You only need a tiny amount.

Why's talc not safe to use?

Talc naturally occurs with asbestos when it is mined. So talcum powder will have particles of asbestos mixed in. If you use it frequently, as in a daily basis, you will over time inhale asbestos particles increasing your chances of lung cancer later in life.

Thats why it is recommended that if a frequent user, you use corn starch based toiletry powders instead of talc. Unless allergic to corn, in which case you have to hunt for potato starch based toiletry powders.

I get this where my tummy overhangs my section scar. I use caldesence powder on it every day. Wash, dry well, and apply liberal amount of caldesene. I also use it under my boobs when they get a bit red and sore
