Stabbing pains in the right side of my stomach

Woke up fine, and got organised for work.. as I headed out the door had a sudden stabbing pain in my right side, that took my breath away but only asked a few seconds... drove down the road and have had to come home as they are taking my breath away.
No other symptoms.
Any idea what it could be? Can't see the GP and don't wanna rock up at A and E if it's something silly!

Sometimes constipation can cause pain like this (yes really!). I'd have some warm drinks and keep moving around just in case it gets your bowels moving.

Having said that, if the pain continues much longer or worsens or if you develop other symptoms you'll have to brave a waiting room to be checked.

Hmm. I've just tried to go and couldn't so that may be it.
Honestly the pain is like labour

If you've got any orange juice, pears etc. that can help get things going, as can proper black coffee.

The pain can feel severe (just like trapped wind can).

www.nhs.uk/conditions/appendicitis/

Could be appendicitis op. I’d call 111 for advice.

Donotgogentle · 07/03/2023 09:16

And if it gets any worse get straight to A&E.

There’s so many things abdominal pain could be though- trapped wind, stomach ulcer, gallstones, ovarian cyst etc etc. But appendicitis would be urgent (and it’s on the lower right of the abdomen) so I’d ring 111 if you can’t see a GP.

Ovulation pain? Mind always feels like a sudden stabbing pain. Can be fine one minute and bent over double the next. I’d take some painkillers asap and see how you are this afternoon.

That's the plan! Thanks all

Appendix possibly so I’d get checked.

Thanks. It's like where you get a stitch if that makes sense?

I don’t know but gallstones and appendix are on the right of abdomen. Could be ovarian cyst. Is ectopic pregnancy a possibility?

SomersetBrie · 07/03/2023 10:54

Does it feel worse if you press it? That is another indicator of appendix.

Some pains can be soothed if you press/rub the area. (not saying that's less serious as I don't know)

I don't think so, I'm 46 and we don't have sex that often
