Pain lower back/kidney/UTI help please

I have seen the GP for a number of issues recently, had a urine test on Friday and am awaiting a further blood test.

In the meantime, I have developed a pain in my lower right side of my back which only ached when coughing/sneezing etc.

However, the pain is now getting a bit worse and has moved more to the right side on my waist, It now also hurts when I prod the area. Just a dull sort of ache, not sharp or stabbing, no waves of pain.

I did mention my further concerns on the phone to the GP on Friday but was told to wait for the results of further blood tests.

I can also see from the app that my urine sample had traces of blood in it and it says suspected UTI.

I have had UTIs before and was nothing like this.. the UTI was much more uncomfortable.

I don’t have a temperature.
My urine is cloudy but doesn’t smell.

Has anyone had a UTI like this? Or something similar? I know the Dr has ordered further blood tests but am worried in case it is something more serious such as a kidney infection/stones etc.

apologies for the ramble.

Hi - sadly can’t help as I have exactly the same issue right now, but pain mainly
around lower back. Just finished a week of antibiotics for possible kidney infection but they did nothing. Have got blood test on Weds and an ultrasound on 22nd March. They think maybe kidney stones? Feeling v miserable at the moment. Hope you feel better soon

Hi @Ramsd
Sorry to hear you are suffering too!
It’s quite difficult as things can get serious with kidneys quickly but nobody seems to be very concerned at the moment. Another day has passed and still no contact from the GP. I can see on the app it says blood in urine so I would have thought a call/antibiotics might have been on the cards. My next blood test is April!!

Do you have a temperature at all? That can be a clue to kidney infections/stones etc.

I hope things go well with the blood tests and ultrasound. Keep us posted here! 💪🌟

Although it sounds like a UTI in which case you need some antibiotics if the pain gets unbearable and/or your temperature spikes please go to A&E in case it's a kidney stone or dare I say appendicitis

I have had both a kidney and a kidney stone (twice) and both had me writhing in agony, feeling like I was going to vomit or pass out.

When I had the kidney infection it was not preceded by a lower UTI so no burning or urinary frequency etc. which is uncommon but not unheard of. Drink enormous amounts of water would be my tip when kidneys are involved.

I’m not in the UK so I can’t give advice on how to navigate your system. Here in Australia I would just make an appointment with the GP to discuss.

I ended up back at the GP yesterday afternoon. No sign of blood in urine or infection at all, so kidney stones ruled out. I didn’t think it was really as I’m in enough pain for that if that makes sense.
She is trying to speed up my ultrasound and I’ve got bloods tomorrow. Hoping it’s nothing too serious but glad they’re checking everything out!

How are you feeling @Ramsd ?
I am still awaiting blood tests and in the meantime have been diagnosed with torn muscles in lower back from coughing.

Hi @anewbook so my bloods came back with raised CA125, I’m actually sat in the hospital now awaiting an urgent ultrasound. GP thinks endometriosis but possibility of ovarian cancer hence the extra tests. Endo runs in my family so makes sense - will hopefully know a bit more tomorrow.
Weirdly the back pain disappeared completely last week so who knows!
Hope you feel better soon

@Ramsd
Oh, I'm sorry to hear that! !
I really hope everything goes well and ovarian cancer is ruled out.
Thinking of you and hoping for the best outcome 💐
Hope you have a restful evening.

Hi, I know this is an old thread but did anyone get any answers with this as I’m going through something similar. @anewbook @Ramsd

It comes and goes with me.. can go for a few months fine and then it will appear.
I am still on the waiting list awaiting a specialist appointment…
What are your symptoms @Imagineit ?
