Sinus misery - any advice?

I had a really horrible cold a month ago and my sinuses were totally blocked. The cold is away now and so is the horrendous mucous from my nose but I've been left with this horrible throbbing and burning sensation on the lower left side of my face, inside my face and the roof of my mouth.

I assume its an inflamed sinus but the weird thing is that it's not there in the morning and starts to come on around 11am, before it flares massively around 6pm and has me reaching for painkillers. Does anyone know why it would get worse as the day goes on? Any advice on how to get my sinus to settle down again? Thanks and sympathies if you also have sinus misery

I've no idea why it gets worse as the day goes on but I highly recommend sinus rinses to help clear and congestion and calm down any inflammation. I used to get sinus infections regularly that were hard to clear and usually ended up with antibiotics, I've avoided them for a couple of years doing the rinses

Thanks @trickyfriendsone ...what do you use to do a sinus rinse? There is a lot of different info about it online and I'm not sure where to start for a sensible how to.

I have a neti pot bottle off Amazon along with the sachets of salt to use.

Thank you, will give that a go and hopefully it will help things settle down.

Try an antihistamine, I was told this by a GP, it worked for me!

Sterimar congestion relief spray. Sounds like woo, but works like a charm.

I 100% agree with the neti pot. Always use salt in the water and I use cosy water and it really kind of melts any snot away. Ive had huge slugs of crap come out my nose using one. They are great to use before bed!
