Period flu?

So I don't know what this is but for around 6 months (I'm 33 BTW) I get flu like symptoms a week/5 days before my period, headache from actual hell, cramps in my legs and back, sore throat, throat feels swollen as does my glands, stuffy nose, low grade fever (not every month) feel feverish, cold with goosebumps so so tired like Exhausted brain fog, night sweats beyond thirsty, low mood just generally unwell and shite!

Does anyone else suffer this thing...surely I'm not getting the flu every month for around 3 days or until my period starts.

I feel like im walking through treacle and my body just feels heavy and blah.

Can anyone relate as its driving to distraction 😪

I used to get a slight fever and feel rough-ish for a few days quite often, but not usually on the scale you describe.

Have you had blood tests to check things like your iron levels? If they are too low then that could account for some of the exhaustion?

I have just tested postive for covid, so that I was feeling so rough yesterday lol

I've had it a few times -once I couldn't get out of bed for the weekend.

The others times have not been that bad but still awful.

My 14yo DD is going though this. Been talking to the GP today actually to arrange for a blood test. The GP called it "period flu" and acknowledged it can be really miserable. Going to see if the blood tests show anything.

Yep I get period flu, every month without fail...as if we don’t feel shit enough on our period we get that added on.

Moopsi · 02/03/2023 22:42

I get night sweats the night before and whole duration of my period. Often get a headache as well. Generally feel dreadful but it doesn't help that the night sweats mean that I sleep badly for a week every month!

Meterry · 02/03/2023 23:23

I get it, currently in bed with it

Munchyseeds2 · 03/03/2023 20:13

Sorry you have covid

I used to feel as if I was getting a cold before every period...took me a long time to make the connection!

EveSix · 03/03/2023 20:24

Yep, although your symptoms sound severe Flowers
Since having DC, I get body aches, shivers and a migraine roughly 36-48 hours before my period starts. Then the symptoms go as soon as soon as I start bleeding.
I really hope my DDs don't inherit this.

Yeah i get it every month which is why I at first assumed it was that but this time it was actually the flu (covid) I did wonder why it was so bad this month which is why I posted LOL, its rubbish though every month thinking am I coming down with something. Its rubbish.
