I’ve had this pain down my left arm it’s mostly near the forearm between hand and elbow the top area and then I get waves of pins and needles on my thumb and index finger it comes and goes during day I don’t know what it is I’ve never experienced it before. Has anyone experienced this?

I have it currently. I have a pinched nerve it comes from my neck/shoulder area take anti inflammatories. See if they work. There are tests to see if it's a pinched nerve you can do yourself. Have a Google.

What @maddy68 said. I have numbness and tingling and have a bone spur where the nerve comes out of my spine. I'm waiting for an operation to remove it, although they might trial a numbing injection first. My wait time is over a year.
This might not be the case for you - if it's caused by inflammation, a combination of anti-inflammatories and exercises could help.

P.S. have a look into whether or not you can self-refer to physiotherapy in your area - it's what your GP will tell you to do anyway unless it's a very short-lived thing.

I to have this as well. Been going on since October last year. Getting better now with medication prescribed by GP. I’m on Zapain, Amitriptyline and naproxen. Chiropractor and GP think it’s a disc bulge between C5 C6 causing a pinched nerve thats causing pins and needles in my left arm down into my thumb, index and middle finger.

ToLongToCharge · 28/02/2023 22:26

How long has you had this?

Sweet211 · 01/03/2023 21:25

Thank you so much everyone for your responses I’ve had it for nearly 3 weeks? Will naproxen help? What can ccause the pinch nerve? I thought it was carpel tunnel syndrome

Have something similar at the moment, woke up about 3 weeks ago, thought I had slept funny but the pain hasn't gone away yet. Pain down my left arm, pain seems to move around, also burning and tingling. Tried tiger balm on it but didn't really help

Sweet211 · 01/03/2023 21:34

It will def be a bulging disk in your neck. I have it too and physio helped loads. I'm sure it's due to looking down at our phones etc all the time.

It's very weird feeling!

When my DH was rubbing ointment on my back shoulder area I was getting pins and needles like tingling in my thumb index and middle finger why’s that

As others have said it sounds like a trapped nerve.

See your GP and ask for an MRI referral. There’s a number of treatments available to treat it.

Rhizotomy, a procedure which burns off the nerve endings is great pain management and avoids having to be on long term medication.

ComeTheFckOnBridget · 03/03/2023 01:22

It might not be a bulging disc, tight & weak muscles locking up can also cause nerves to impinge. See a physio - they'll diagnose you properly and advise accordingly.

I’ve just found out I’m pregnant and my last period was December 19th i thought my cycles went longer

Thumb and index finger are supplied by a nerve that originates from the c6 vertebra. It also supples sensation to a region of the back and the arm.
It's likely he stimulated the nerve.
I don't think the pregnancy has anything to do with it, but congratulations!

efeslight · 20/03/2023 18:08

Congratulations on the pregnancy sweet!
I had an appointment with the Dr today who thought the pain warranted further investigation so am going for an MRI scan soon. Pins and needles have got a lot worse and the pain is waking me up in the night.
