I had one two weeks last Monday, and still not heard back. I'm going to chase them tomorrow but do you think if it was something serious like cancer they would have got in contact already?

I wish I could reassure you. There’s a terrible backlog due to covid. I waited almost fours weeks for a result recently. It’s unacceptable to keep people waiting so long IMO.

I had a colonoscopy last Friday (24th) - they told me there and then that I had what looked like a cancerous lesion and I was immediately referred on via the 2 week wait system for a CT (which I had yesterday) and MRI (which I had today).

After your colonoscopy were you given a print out of your report? From looking on my Patient Access account it would appear that a copy of the colonoscopy report was sent electronically to my GP so you could chase your GP to see if they can show you the report and/or explain it to you.

I would imagine that nothing suspicious was found if you’ve not been referred on, but good luck anyway

It was a ct colonoscopy so I think it's done by a radiographer as opposed to a surgeon which I think regular colonoscopies are. So they don't give the results there.

I'm sorry to hear your news. I hope you are bearing up ok Flowers

I called up the hospital and asked for my results but they won't give them to me. I have to wait another two weeks for a face to face appointment. Would they have called me I earlier if more serious? I'm so worried now.

Oh I’m sorry, my brain didn’t process the CT bit. Yeah so different experience from mine. What I do know is that at the first sniff of cancer I was referred to a specialist nursing team and sent for the other tests so I wonder if the long wait + no other tests is a good thing?

I looked on the Macmillan page about CT colonoscopy and it suggests that if you’re worrying about results you can call their helpline nurses (I assume even if you’re not a cancer patient). I don’t know if the testing and referral stuff works differently in different areas but they might. Could be worth giving them a call as they may be able to confirm whether you would have an earlier/more urgent face to face if it was something serious?

I really think they underestimate the stress caused by waiting for results. Stress in itself can cause physical symptoms.
