Mouth ulcers

I have ulcers on the underside of my tongue and in my throat. It hurts to talk, eat and swallow. Under my tongue is swollen and so sore.

This started on Sunday and today feels less painful than yesterday so I'm hoping they're easing off now. I have bought anbesos today but I can't say it has helped much, I'm also rinsing with corsodyl mouthwash. My mouth tastes rubbish today as well.

I am going through a really stressful ptime right now, so I'm wondering if this is stress related and I'm just run down.

Does anyone have any advice on anything else I can try?

Yes, try difflam spray (available over the counter). You could also ask the GP to prescribe a steroid mouthwash or tablet to dissolve/rinse with. I use sesame that’s one and it is fucking magic.

Do you get a lot of mouth ulcers? There may be some blood tests you should get e.g b vitamins and iron etc

Not sesame! That was a typo. I meant to say dexomethasone.

I did wonder if the sesame was a typo or not.

I might try my GP in the morning if it's no better - it's so painful. I can't swallow properly so I keep getting little bits of food stuck in my throat. The top of my tongue is sore too.

I do tend to get mouth ulcers more so when I'm stressed though.

I've just searched this exact question, did you find anything to help? I've got them all along one side of my tongue and I can't speak properly, it's so painful

Try taking huge amounts of B12

Avoid Prosecco and gluten
Both ruin my tongue and gums
White bread and cake is horrific !!

I get outbreaks of mouth ulcers when stressed too, on my gums and tongue. It's agony, I feel for you.
I find the Anbesol liquid you mentioned helps.
There are definitely some things other than stress that trigger them for me - have you changed your toothpaste recently at all? Certain types cause me to get loads.
Other than that all I can recommend is a good diet and making sure you get all your vitamins - I've hardly had any since I've been taking prenatal and pregnancy vitamins for the past few years. As someone else mentioned, B12 in particular is a good idea to take.

Just as a heads up, I'm in week 3 of the worst mouth ulcers of my life. Thought I was just run down but it's gand, foot and mouth which is rife atm round here. I so didn't really get the hand and foot blisters so much just in the mouth. Just a thought you might have it too. Hope you feel better soon.

I used to get frequent mouth ulcers for years, not stress related. Mine were caused by my toothpaste and mouth wash containing SLS sodium lauryl sulfate, so I started using SLS free ones and they have gone.
Yours may by caused by stress, but perhaps look at the ingredients on your toothpaste and mouth wash as it may be making them worse or last longer. Hope they settle soon for you, mouth ulcers are the worst x

Yep me too! My dentist suggested using an enamel repair toothpaste so I started using one, which has SLS, but had the worst mouth ulcers ever. Switched to the Sensodyne version which doesn't have it and all cleared up.
