Posterior vaginal prolapse

Hi.

Has anyone had surgery for a posterior vaginal prolapse? What did it involve and was it worth it?

I’m my 40s and just diagnosed with this. The consultant has referred me for physio and told me to think if I want surgery. However I don’t know how bad the surgery is, recovery times etc and if I should be considering other ways to improve it first before jumping into surgery. But I also don’t know how effective anything else would be.

Thanks

I had surgery for this 10 years ago in my 40s, it has been successful. However it is major surgery, I had 6 weeks off work (office job), the first two weeks you can't lift anything heavier than a cup of tea and it was 3 months before I felt totally back to normal. Longer term you still have to be careful around heavy lifting, high impact exercise etc. But I'm glad I had it done.

Thanks.
I does sound like quite major surgery then. My symptoms at the moment are only mild so Im surprised they’ve offered surgery straight away.
maybe I’ll ask at the next appt if I can try other things as I don’t think I’m quite ready for the operation, esp if it comes with 6 weeks off work.

I'd see what the physio says. Mine had got a bit beyond that, but there is plenty they can do and there are good resources online for exercise and lifestyle changes now too.

I would seek out a private Women's Health Physiotherapist before going down the surgery route. There are also some fab resources out there and Personal Trainers who can help. Have a search for a Holistic Core Restore Coach.
