Labyrinthitis

This started for me last week with vertigo and vomiting with an ear infection. I got some stemitil which I took for 2 days but stopped taking it on Friday.

I am still very wobbly on my feet. I am very unbalanced. I have to hold on to something to walk around. I can take a few steps by myself. My ear feels stuffy and heavy, I have tinnitis and its so hard not being able to do anything.
Has anybody has this and what was recovery like? How long did it take? Did it gradually go away or suddenly go away?
I am finding it so hard so it would be nice to hear recovery stories. Thanks.

Hi, I don't have this but I have recently had Shingles on my face and it has been in the nerves around the ear also causing vertigo, nausea and pain and tinnitus.

I have had treatment - antivirals and also the doctors gave me some tablets for the pain and for the vertigo.

In case any of this helps. I'm still getting pain and tinnitus even after the antivirals have worked about have now been diagnosed with Neuralgia.

I had this a few years ago.
I was at the park with dog and bent down to pick up the ball, when I stood up I felt drunk. I don't even know if I was walking straight but I felt as though I was staggering.
I somehow managed to get home and was throwing up. I couldn't even let anyone sit on the sofa beside me as any small movement felt like I was being violently thrown about on the sea.
It was horrendous. It lasted about a week. 2/3 days really bad then gradually got better. After the 3rd day it was more of a fuzzy head feeling.
I was unable to drive for at least the week.

I got Labyrinthitis in last week of December - most of January was a write off due to dizziness so I wfh. Still have stuffy ears and tinnitus although dizziness largely gone (except right on waking). Second time for me and it has been similar both times.
