my gp gave me pill to help with periods.i told him my last period ended 2 days ago he said start pill straight away-instructions say wait till next period.but is that just if using for contraseption?i have coil which is staying in for 3 months to see how i get on with pil.so the pill is just for calming hormones at the moment so do i start now as gp says, wait till period or wait till monday and phone gp?

Starting now is fine if you don't rely on pill for contraception.

start the pill now - if you did decide to have sex you would need to use other contraception for 7/14 days (not sure which one!). If you waited and started it on the first day of your period you would be covered immediately without having to use additional contraception.

(although I dont suppose you have to worry about the above if you have a coil fitted too)
