Serum Creatinine level of 99; AKI warning stage 2, GP failed to follow up or inform me

Hello

In November, I was persuaded to attend A&E as I had some swelling in my legs, breathlessness and a cough, along with some unexplained bruising. I also felt unwell in general.

I had bloods taken in A&E and then waited for 7 hours, I really needed to go home at this point to look after my DC, and no one else was available.

I also thought I was probably neurotic and wasting their time being there.

I spoke to the staff of reception before I left the department who reassured me that if I went home and the blood results were abnormal, they would be picked up by my GP the same/following day who would contact me if needed.

I didn’t hear from my GP (or A&E) so presumed that everything must be fine.

Fast forward to last week and I contacted my surgery and requested a copy of my current medication list. The receptionist has emailed me my entire medical records for the last few years; including my blood test results from November.
The blood results show that my serum creatinine levels were too high and showed ‘AKI warning stage 2’. I needed to have my urine testing for blood and protein, amongst other things (e.g. consider sepsis, obstruction).

No action was taken and I wasn’t informed of the results.

I don’t know what I should do, can I ring my GP to follow up after this long? Should I?

The thing is I have been experiencing continuing symptoms, which I haven’t discussed with my GP because I wasn’t sure what to ask them for seeing as my bloods had already been done (I’m autistic which doesn’t help with communicating things).

I can’t be certain but these symptoms could very well be kidney related (never considered it before).

It was done as part of my blood panel in a and e. Had to spend 4 days in.

That creatinine is only just above normal range. I don't actually know why the computer has flagged AKI stage 2. That would be 2-3x your baseline, so unless your normal is 50 it is incorrect.

AKI stages are calculated by the computer and are often erroneous, so doctors review them and file as normal.

Well I had my urine tested yesterday which was positive for blood and leukocytes.
So I saw a Doctor this afternoon and I’ll be having bloods done this week, they want to check my kidney function, and also thyroid function and diabetes.
I’ve got antibiotics too in case I have a UTI.

i probably wouldn’t have been as worried if I’d know that. I saw the warning and panicked! I feel much calmer now.

its probably nothing, and if it is at least I’ll know soon enough.

The GP said that the creatinine blood level is converted into GFR which is what the stages are based on.

But I’m sure I’ve misunderstood her, as I’d be stage 3 if so and clearly I’m not.

Hi @Bibliophile23 did you ever get to the bottom of this please? As I've now had similar test results with the doctor ignoring it and I'm not sure what to do.

Hello, just read your post, how are you feeling now? Have you stopped AKI stage 2? ❤

Meadowdog, what about you? Did you get to bottom of this too, please? I have a same issue?
