Fibroids??

Hello,

I had my gallbladder removed yesterday and the surgeon was trying to talk to me whilst I was in recovery but I was so out of it I couldn’t talk. I just remember her saying that she was sending me for an urgent scan.

so on my notes it says ‘she has a very large, bulky uterus extending to umbilicious, with a Large and prominent left ovary. Referred for urgent scan, discuss with GP’

today I’ve Googled because I had no idea what this could mean, and I can see it could be a variety of things, mainly fibroids.

i had a laparoscopy 2 years ago for really heavy bleeding/irregular periods which showed nothing except minor endometrosis but then a couple months later a consultant took some biopsies and fitted the coil and I have had zero bleeding since then.
I do wee constantly and don’t feel like I ever empty fully, and I suffer with cramping.

I’m awaiting an appointment with the breast clinic for 2ww which is delayed because I have a lump in my breast and armpit and now this has just frightened the life out of me too.

I know no one here is a medical expert but has anyone had something similar and it has been fibroids/cysts/ or something and nothing sinister.
Im 33.

thank you.

I'm not sure about your case, but I have a number of large fibroids detected during pregnancy and they are completely benign - from the discussions I had it sounds like they are rarely problematic unless getting in the way of other functions. So there's a good chance they're big, affecting things like urinating, but not totally evil. I really hope yours are just inconvenient Vs anything more sinister! Perhaps they're worried about damage to the ovary, or a possible cyst in there?

Thank you for replying, I hope yours didn’t cause you too much grief.

Im going to call the hospital tomorrow and just ask them what it means on my notes and how long for an ultrasound too. (I can’t see them doing one soon because one of the scars from the gallbladder removal is on my belly button and that would be painful) just so I can have a bit more clarification.

I was bleeding every 3 weeks for 2 weeks and it was cos of my fibroid wheb they scanned me. I have 3. One is 3cm and in the back wall which is why I was also getting back pain.

Now on cerazvette to ensure they don't grow bigger.

Not a big issue, most people have them but don't know until it causes an issue like mine.

You best off getting more ino about your situation though.

Meant to add they won't be cancerous or anything that's just imwhere they are and if they cause you any other issues due to their size or position

Thank you Spectre, I’m hoping that it is fibroids. Well, not that they are remotely easy for a lot of people but because I’m not having that many symptoms, and in my head at the moment I’m just thinking of the worse case scenario.
I was bleeding like that before but ultrasound never showed fibroids and the coil sorted my bleeding.

Yes they recommended the coil but I prefer taking a pill. Hope it all gets sorted out for you a d remember no need to stress until u really know what's wrong 🙂

Hi, never underestimate fibroids. I am 46 years old and was once told that I have fibroids but when I was told the doctor kind of minimized it, like it did not matter. Well just before Xmas I had a huge swollen left leg, turned out it was deep vein thrombosis cause by a huge fibroid. It is 23cmx22cm. Yes, little fibroids can grow you know. I am in agony, cannot walk up the stairs, taking blood thinning medication and waiting for my consultation. Cannot wait to get rid of it. Pressing on my organs, discs; it is a miracle that it did not cause more damage. If I could afford it I would go private and have surgery ASAP.
