Costochondritis pain relief?

Just that really, does anyone have any recommendations for costochondritis pain relief? The pain in my left hand side is absolutely excruciating! I've tried standard paracetamol and ibuprofen, also ibuprofen gel. Drs gave me naproxen but none of these do anything. Deep heat cream takes the edge off ever so slightly but only when it's first applied

With the naproxen did you take it regularly? Pain is often better managed on regular meds rather than waiting for the pain to come back. How long did you try naproxen for?

So painful, I get this from time to time, how did it start? How you tried Tiger balm (Red one) I find that more effective than deep heat, that’s if you can bear to rub it in. I hope it eases off soon OP Flowers.

I get this a lot, maybe try a microwave heat bag? It's so painful. Hope you feel better

To be fair no as they kind of said to take it as an when needed. They also said because I'm also on sertraline I shouldn't take it for too long anyway

Co-codamol and heat

I have the arthritic version (begins with T and i cant remember!) and they gave me naproxen but it didn't help (and hurt my stomach even with omeprazole)

It's horrible. I've had it for over a year now!

I would try taking the naproxen every 8 hours so 3 time a a day. And regular paracetamol to try and get on top of the pain for at least the next 3 days. If you need any more then you could try and over the counter paracetamol with codeine.

I had a chest infection and got costochondritis following that. I'm still coughing now which is very painful. I'll order some tiger balm to try

@Lemons8519 I see that makes sense, tiger balm is great stuff, it seems to get right down into your bones, just to warn you it does mark clothing/sheet etc but it washes out fine. I hope it helps you. I had a bad cold recently, that really effective my sinuses, I used the white tiger balm, on my face across my cheeks, it really helped. I hope you feel better soon.
