Dry socket worries

Had a upper wisdom tooth removed yesterday very paranoid about dry socket. I’ve had a look today and there is a hole with some white stuff to the side of it but I can’t see a blood clot it’s just a hole. It feels sensitive in that area it’s been about 30 hours since it was done.
should I see a clot ? So worried I followed instructions but had a few vapes last night but tried not to suck like I usually do.
Im really scared now I have health anxiety.
Any dentists is it normal to see a hole ?

Do not suck anything.
If it was dry socket you’d know about it, it’s very painful.

I had the exact same worry last week. I was the same as you, no clot but I could see white granulation of new skin (which I thought was food so I dug it out ouch). I also vape like a maniac.
All I can say is, don't worry. If it doesn't hurt you're fine.
Apparently dry socket is excruciating so you would definitely know.
All I can say is, keep using the salt water, try not to stick your tongue in the hole (almost impossible) and take ibuprofen if you can.
Mine still hasn't closed over completely but it's on its way.

I had dry socket, you would know! It was agony and I could not do anything but sit and hold my jaw. I even struggled to sleep, it was awful.

Avoid vaping and follow all the advice.

I had a back molar extracted which broke into many pieces and took an hour in the chair to get it all out. It has literally been 4 weeks before I felt able to eat on the side of my extraction. I only stopped taking pain relief after 2 weeks but the course of antibiotics and some clove stuff the dentist inserted definitely helped.

I had to be on soft diet for a couple of weeks.

Hope you heal okay, it is a rotten time.

I didn’t have dry socket but I did get an infection despite doing everything right. Honestly don’t vape you do not want dry socket!!

SlightlyJaded · 17/02/2023 22:47

Do not vape. Sucking is the worst thing.

But equally do not panic that you can't see the clot. I had this exact panic (could see the white but no dark red/black clot) and made my dentist look the next day. It was fine. The white is just new skin forming - it's fast.

You'll know if you have it - the pain is terrible!

Did you vape I had to after I was a wreck 😭 I’ve vaped a bit but not half as much but I only just give up smoking three weeks ago so struggling today with hardly vaping.

@Tweetypie27 yes I did vape. I tried not to but mine was a hard extraction and to be told you can't vape after that was pretty much the last straw!
How's yours feeling today?
