Husband itching no rash

My husband has been 'itchy' for about 3 weeks now. Came on suddenly, legs, chest, stomach, arms and head.
No rash anywhere to be seen. He said it feels like sunburn type itching and he has a burning sensation in his left stomach occasionally.
He was referred for bloods last week by gp who did an extensive load of bloods and said all were normal. Which is great. But he's still itching!
We haven't changed anything he puts on his body, and he did a period of using nothing but water to see if it helped but it didn't.
His skin isn't dry, literally can't see a thing actually on his skin.
Anyone any ideas? It's really getting him down, what will the gp do next if he calls back to say it's the same.
Also tried antihistamines - no help.

Has he been in contact with any new animals anywhere?
Has he started eating a new food?
Gone to a gym? They may be using a new cleaning solution or something if he has.

I know you say his skin isn’t dry, but has he tried putting some sort of lotion on to see if it actually eases the itch scratch cycle?

My husband had similar. We sort of tracked it down to really powerful plant bulbs we had in the back of the car. You could sometimes smell them. He had a burning itch after he’d driven so we put it down to those.
Any new plants gone in anywhere?

@Calistan

That really isn’t helpful is it!
There is nothing wrong with a concerned wife asking for advice!

Resurrecting this thread as my husband is the same. Did you ever find out the cause OP?

Dh gets itchy if I use biological washing powder. We use non-bio and no problems.

@poignant thanks. Have stopped using anything/everything that could possibly cause irritation to no avail 😢
