Rectal cancer

Hi just starting a new thread. Been diagnosed yesterday via a colonoscopy.
Just looking to see if anyone has any experience of this. I know everyone says stay off Google but convinced myself it’s already spread as been experiencing pelvic pain on and off. I’ve got a MRI tomorrow and CT next week. I know I have to take step at a time. I feel like I’m dreaming and I’ll wake up. Many thanks for reading.

what did they say they had found? My report says 1.5cm which almost certainly cancer

He had said to me when getting my colonoscopy that there where my bleeding was coming from and took biopsies from it and said was my partner with me and that once I had been to recovery and I was ready he would come and speak to myself and partner and when he took us into the room he said they had found something and it looked 99% cancerous and he had refered me for urgent ct scan and mri after that I had went into complete shock and just wanted out the room have u had both scans?

My dad had this. No symptoms until a bleed. Fast tracked through various tests which confirmed diagnosis of Stage three.

He had surgery and had a colostomy fitted but nothing further needed( he was advised that chemo at his age was far more likely to do him in than the chance of it returning.) He has just reached his 5 years and still going strong at nearly 85!

almost Exactly same story I took my brother as husband at work. She said would come and tell me what she had found after sedation wore off. Apparently the mdt meet on Friday to discuss next step in my trust.

It’s a horrible feeling isn’t it? That’s good that you have had both scans the quicker they do things it’s better I haven’t had any appointments yet the cancer nurse phoned me the day after my colonoscopy ask if I had understood what had been said to me and that they are there to support I asked her how long I’d be waiting and she said it’s taken about 3 weeks for urgent scans unless any cancellations come up

Been poorly on top with ear infection so not been great. Keep getting odd pains and thinking it’s spread already. I’m a born worrier.

Is it your rectum? 3 weeks is a long time? It’s supposed to be within 2 week pathway.
Really hope you get a cancellation.

Yes in rectum, report I was given says it measures 1.5cm.

Will be seen within 2 weeks.
waiting again, so so difficult

So just an update.
Had results today and biopsy on rectal cancer has come back as inconclusive. So have to have it done again.
no news is good news I guess!
CT scan looked ok.

Bad luck and sorry you have to go through that again but great news that the CT was clear - at least you can relax a bit after hearing that. Fingers crossed for you!

Hi @Cocopops555 such a pain that you have to go through the whole thing again but try and focus on the positives here - there is nothing to enable them to conclusively say this actually is cancer yet and your CT scan was clear. Fingers crossed for you that this all literally has been a nightmare and you will be able to wake up from it.
