Laberal tear in hip

As above really, have been suffering left hip pain which radiates for the last 2 years and has got progressively worse and is now severe. Finally saw gp who referred for X-ray, mri and physio. X-ray shows osteoarthritis and a possible cyst. Saw consultant physio this morning who assessed me and suspects laberal tear and osteoarthritis from the tests he carried out which he believes are due to me having hip dysplasia when I was born.

What treatments have you had if you’ve been diagnosed with this? Will be starting physio and am on zapain. Possible next steps after having mri next week are mri with dye contrast and a referral to osteo consultant.

@iluvsummer just wondering how you're getting on since your post? Did you end up having the MRI and/or surgery? I am struggling to get anywhere with the NHS with my problems.

I have this as well (labral tear and dysplasia). My consultant told me that it was too late to surgically correct the dysplasia (over 35 years old), that there was no point in repairing the labral tear because the dysplasia would cause a reoccurrence, and that the only solution is a hip replacement - but that I would need to be significantly more disabled by it before I could have the op.
I was given a sacroiliac injection which was wonderful for a few months. The belt of pain from thigh to waist completely went away for a while - it was great, but sadly didn’t last.
I have friends who’ve had the same condition and were limping around on crutches for months before they qualified for a hip replacement.

I had a mri which showed bulging discs at L4/5. I’m having physio fortnightly at the hospital now and am on the list for a hip injection. My hip pain is minimal now, I’m actually suffering more with the back pain now!
