Extreme sore throat virus

Has anyone else had this awful sore throat virus? I'm on day 9 still with a lingering sore throat and my poor daughter who is only 3 has picked it up today and I've never seen her so unwell. The back of her throat is red raw with little red spots and her tonsils are massive, she keeps complaining there is something stuck in her throat and crying every time she swallows. She's vomiting as well and drooling. It's absolutely awful. I had a sore throat and dry cough with it and a bit of a tummy upset as well. I've taken her to the docs today and they've given antibiotics for tonsillitis as she does have form for it, has had it in September and December which took 3 lots of antibiotics to kick it completely. I'm just worried it's not tonsillitis (it looks like it is) but the fact I had the same thing a week ago makes me think viral. Or maybe I had tonsillitis too and just didn't need ABs. Anyway just looking for experiences? Anyone else here? I'm so worried about her she's not eaten a thing all day and barely drank anything and in bed not able to settle as she's in such pain. I've kept well on top of the calpol and nurofen and it doesn't seem to be making any difference

Hmm that doesn’t sound right sorry. Can she swallow at all? You say she is drooling?

My dc ended up in A&E with tonsillitis recently and it can be a medical emergency.

I’d get further advice.

Sounds like strep. You need to go to dr first thing tomorrow

Well I went to drs today and got antibiotics but she's had 4 full doses and it hasn't really done anything so far, I'm really hoping she wakes up in the morning feeling a bit better

She can swallow but drooling because it hurts so much and she would rather spit it out and the pain is causing her to drool even more.

I've felt like this before a few times when I've had laryngitis, it's awful. Horrible sore throat, can't swallow and feeling like there's something stuck in the back of the throat and a hoarse voice.
Hope your little one feels better soon!
