Upper back molar Tooth extraction advice please!

I have an upper back molar tooth that is abscessed. I saw an emergency dentist who said my only options are root canal or extraction.

it apparently has long roots so root canal may not be successful.

I am seeing my own dentist today with a view to extract but am concerned as apparently this upper 2nd molar is close to the sinus cavity (and I know I have long roots). Anyone had similar and been okay?

Getting myself in a panic!

@Toothfairytooth go to an oral surgeon ask you remove it

My dentist wouldn’t touch it and referred me to the oral surgeon. I had it out the following month, about 7 months ago!!

@Toothfairytooth was it ok did it affect your sinus cavity

Toothfairytooth · 29/09/2023 16:33

It was good, the oral surgeon had it out within 2 minutes, didn’t even need stitches and my sinus cavity was unaffected!
