Sudden onset rosacea

Just wondering if anyone has had this. I turn 50 this year and v suddenly have incredibly sore and bright red cheeks. I keep thinking it will go away but it isn't. I went to Boots and bought some Dermalex rosacea treatment and it's helping but I'm flashing as bright as a Belisha beacon

I don't know if it's a coincidence but I started using v low dose retinol a few weeks ago. Had only put it on my skin twice and stopped immediately.

Is this it? Am I stuck with this for life? :(

Could it be hormonal @SpotOnMyBot?

I've suffered with it for years but two things have helped along the way, the first was giving up dairy. I'd had CMPA ax a baby and child and thought it had gone away but obviously hadn't as my skin cleared up a lot afterwards.

The other was starting HRT.

That is so weird as I was also CMPA as a baby/child. I will look into that thanks. I had noticed myself flushing more when I was drinking wine/eating curry. I am fair anyway so have always flushed a bit but this is extreme.

I had rosacea in my 30s, treated with tetracycline. It cleared up.
Then came back in my late 40s, again treated and calmed down after a year or so.
Post menopause I don't have rosacea but cheeks flush red if I drink alcohol. Many friends my age (60s) are the same.

Yes, I'm in my 50s and get a bit of flushing with alcohol.

My skin is very fair too so it's very noticeable.

This happened to me a few months ago. I got some antibiotic gel from the dr and lots of people recommended soolantra.
Mine went away after a few weeks - I stopped using everything I normally put on it except moisturiser to repair the skin barrier. The best moisturiser for me was Eucerin anti redness.
I started a thread and poster's recommended LaRochePosay and Cerave
