Physical feeling of dread/fear when waking

Hello all

For the past few days when I've woken up I feel as if I'm in the aftermath of some frightening situation. It's like the physical symptoms of being scared -feeling on edge and upset, bit of a fuzzy head, heavy feeling in chest - but nothing going on in my head particularly to trigger it. Has anyone experienced this before? Does it sound like some kind of anxiety issue or something else?

It's not PMS related as wrong time in cycle - although I'm early 40s so I guess can't rule out hormones. No history of anxiety or depression and not particularly stressed.

Thanks in advance.

I sometimes wake with a sense of impending doom.

It sounds like anxiety. This can be the result of mental health issues. But some physical medical issues can cause anxiety too. So perhaps worth telling your GP about it to rule anything out. GL.

Thanks. I know it's probably anxiety but such a weird feeling. Will get it checked out if continues.

That's what I got during the menopause, but the feeling of doom and panice presaged a hot flush.
