Concussion?

Fell off my bike at the weekend and banged my head on the road. Had a lump on my temple which is still sore to touch and bruised. I’ve been getting dizzy spells today, the sort where it feels like everything is spinning (like being drunk). I’m not sure if concussion can kick in a few days after a knock to the head, or if it happens immediately. Anyone with any advice on what concussion is like? I don’t have any other symptoms, just this dizziness…

Exactly what it was like for me....had a headache straight after my bang to the head, didn't black out vomit

Over the next 24 /48 hours felt sick and started to feel like I was drunk
Spoke to GP who said classic concussion.

Took a week Not to feel drunk but months later I still go dizzy if I bend over.
It is getting better tho

I would call your GP

Yes my daughter had delayed concussion and started not being able to walk in a straight line 48 hours after a head injury. Have a look at the site below for when to seek medical advice.

Thanks both. I contacted my GP on the 10th who told me to go straight to A&E. Had some tests and a scan as there was bruising behind my ear and I had some neck pain. They said concussion and whiplash. Was sent home with a leaflet and some painkillers and advised to take it easy.

Hi OP,
How are you doing now?
I’m 5 days post fall, I fell backwards down the stairs and split my head open on a wooden unit at the bottom the stairs. I was unconscious for a few minutes. I’m really finding the concussion symptoms difficult. Lots of dizziness and brain fog. I have a simple feeling to what you described like I’m drunk and my head is spinning. I’m just wondering how long it took you to recover?
My Dr tried to sign me off work earlier in the week and I refused because I thought after 5 days off I would be okay to go back but I’m now realising this May last longer than I thought. I did take a right fall!

I'm not the OP but that sounds really nasty....did you get checked out at the hospital?
My fall was nowhere near as bad but I had a week off work because I felt dizzy/sick/drunk
This was last Aug...i have only just stopped feeling dizzy doing certain things

@Munchyseeds2 thanks for the reply. Yes it was quite traumatic. I think I’ve downplayed it quite a lot tbh. I honestly thought I would be going back to work on Monday but I’m going to have to ring up and get that doctors note she was insisting I took. The doctor obviously knew better.
I did go to A&E and I had to be seen by a doctor due to the fact that I had gone unconscious. The doctor at A&E wasn’t very helpful he just told me he didn’t think I needed a CT scan and sent me home with a printed out sheet of signs to look out for incase it was more serious and told me to take painkillers. Hence why I paid a visit to GP who did do a very thorough check a few days after the fall.
I am feeling quite fragile. I’m just frustrated that this feeling is likely to go on for a while longer.

I think you just need to rest until you feel better to be honest
