Stressed about scan

In November I noticed a slightly swollen lymph node on the right side of my groin. Feels like the other one but larger.

Went to the GP and he felt all my other nodes and said it was fine, said it was about the size of a pea and to just come back in 6 weeks if it hadn’t gone down.

It didn’t go down so I went back just after Xmas and a different doctor said she was 99% sure it was fine but as it was new (as far as I was aware), she would schedule a routine ultrasound.

It’s on the 19th and I’m nervous. I know it’s probably ok but I recently had a whole deal with an abnormal smear (had colposcopy, they thought it was high grade, ended up being fine?!) and I’ve also just been diagnosed with a condition that causes chronic pain and I can’t be fucking bothered with constant hospital visits, MRIs, waiting for results etc.

I just need a bit of a hand hold, I think. I know it’s probably fine and I generally am very calm about health stuff but this has pushed me over the edge a bit. What if it’s not fine? Will they be able to tell on the ultrasound? Will I have to wait for results? I literally don’t have time for this!

OK, so they'll do an MRI and then if they can't for sure identify what it is they'll send you for a PET scan. Once you have the PET scan they will either (within a couple of weeks) tell you what it is or recommend you then get a biopsy done. Normally if the lymph nodes are cancerous they'll just remove them and not likely require any chemo or radio. In the same position as you at the moment - sucks!

I’m just having an ultrasound for this, the MRI was for my hips because they think I have labral tears due to my other condition. I’m hoping they’ll just see it’s ok and not have to biopsy. I’m sorry you’re going through this too!
