The copper coil can make periods heavier and more painful for some people. For some it calms down 3-6 months in, for others it doesn't.

I had the copper coil for about a decade and my periods were more painful than before. I never had painful periods before but did have an unpleasant heavy aching and some back pain with the coil.

I've had the copper for about 5 years now and I was very bad the first few months with periods, the cramps were unreal, and clots were huge
Settled down tho after awhile, I found if I knew my period was on its way I'd take ibuprofen reguarly and that helped
Hope you get some relief
