MART regime for asthma query

I appreciate I do need to speak to hcp; dr couldn't help me with this and I need to get a booking with asthma nurse. Just hoping someone with experience can help.

I've only been on MART Fostair since the summer so still getting used to it.

I had the flu/ cold bug at Xmas and MART managed it well going up to 8 puffs a day and then as and when after a few days. My triggers are mostly viral. Cough was over and done in a week.

I've since had a v peculiar chest infection which started in the bottom of my lungs and been quite unwell. Am on second lot of abs which may be helping (too soon to tell) but there's still gunk I struggle to clear down low, which is unusual for me since I started inhalers (about 7 years ago.)

How long do you use the x8 puffs for with an infection? I'm struggling to work out if I use it like a blue reliever or a brown steroid.

Previously I'd double the brown and use the blue as needed. When it was clear this was bad I actually just did x8 a day spaced out in pairs of puffs. My idea was that the steroid would take a bit of time to build up and treat it while the bronchial dilator helped keep things open I have a blue too and occasionally used in between. It's dragged on so long I started to doubt myself and asthma U.K. said I shouldn't be using like that I need to speak to my hcp.

I've since tried x1 puff at a time but sometimes loose count or end up not using all 8.

It's been 2 weeks now though and I don't know if that's too long. I'm feeling less unwell but still tight / asthma coughing at times and full of phlegm. I can still hear crackling deep down too.
