What is this?! Warning - blister pic

This randomly came up on my ankle today. I was suddenly aware of it when I went to put my foot under my other leg and my ankle pressed on the chair. I didn't feel anything that resembled a bug bite or anything. The blister is completely firm. It started off barely noticeable and is slowly growing. Does this look like a bug bite? It's not itchy...

Looks like a bite. Have you been walking anywhere today and could have been bitten by a tick?
keep an eye on the red ring - it makes get be worth popping to a pharmacy tomorrow to get it checked

ReallyShouldBeDoingSomethingElse · 29/01/2023 23:43

I had something that looked very similar a few years ago. It was slightly bigger but otherwise looked the same. Pharmacist said spider bite. It was irritating for a good couple of weeks then properly dried out and crusted and went but took a while.

Draw a circle around the red bit. If the red bit expands you need to get it checked by a doctor.

I had similar and my best guess was a flea bite that reacted.

Spider bite
Do you have an out of hours surgery??

Huh? What are you basing that diagnoses on?

I speak as someone who was hospitalised and on IV antibiotics after a false widow bite.
Firstly it's blistered so you can't even see if there are 2 bite marks (spider) or one (flea etc).

Take an anti inflammatory OP and see how you go.

My spider bite, in a similar place swelled over a couple of hours, and you could almost see my foot and ankle getting bigger!

You'll know if you need out of hours.

Dunno have you tried an antihistamine

Probablynamechangefail · 30/01/2023 07:33

I didn't have any antihistamines in the house and planned to get some today so haven't done anything for it. The red ring is still there and the same size but the blister is less tense so may be going down. Haven't been anywhere that would have ticks, have stuck towns and cities with lots of concrete for the past few weeks! Though I do live in Devon in a relatively tick-y area. Have drawn round the red so will see how it goes. Interesting that a few people said spider bite as that's what people irl said too.

@BertaHoon no I have no medical qualifications. By I went to the GP with a v similar looking thing and was rushed up to hospital after they suspected a not v nice spider bite. That's all.
