We're pretty sure dh has them. But we haven't got a clue as to how he's got them. Neither of us have been unfaithful and pretty sure that I haven't got them.

We're going to get ourselves checked out, but just wondered if there was any other way he coud have contracted them?

they can take years to show, some people can be carriers and have no symptoms

it doesnt mean he has been unfaithful

onebatmother · 06/02/2008 18:35

ummm.
I was pretty certain that the only way to get them was through sexual contact.
Sorry.

depends how long you have been together, they can lie dormant for years and then flare up when run down

and they can also be passed through oral sex (though rarer) so can be passed without vaginal sex

You must get swabbed too as they can be easy to pass.

Thank god for that!

There was never any question about fidelity. Just when we looked on a few websites, (dangerous, I know!) they all seemed to saying that you get them from being sexually active with several partners.

Thank you

either one of you could have contracted them years ago as the virus lies dormant in your system

there is no 'cure' for HPV at the moment, the warts can be treated but they may come back later in life

FrannyandZooey · 06/02/2008 18:38

it only takes one partner to pass them on, you don't need to have several partners!

I've recently had a cold sore. Could that have caused it?

i had hpv as a teenager and recently unrelated saw consultant who said after 20 years no signs i was the same as someone who had never had it

PaulaYatesbiggestFan · 06/02/2008 18:41

re coldsore no - different virus

hpv is passed through sexual activity

FrannyandZooey · 06/02/2008 18:42

coldsores are casued by the herpes virus

this doesn't mean you have genital herpes btw!

it does sound like you are both rundown - viruses like these popping up are a bit of giveaway
