Pospartum Back Pain

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has similar experience.

I gave birth 13 days ago and have had mild back pain since, but it’s really ramped up the last two days to the point where I’m struggling to get up and walk.

I had quite a long labour and a forceps delivery where they had to give me a spinal anaesthetic, so the following days I put it down to the tugging/general strain of delivery, but that it’s getting significantly worse rather than better has me wondering. It’s a sharp pain whenever I put any weight on my right leg making it so i can only take slow, small steps. I’m on Dihydrocodeine for my vaginal tears but it’s not touching my backpain. Really making it difficult to get stuff done, especially night feeds :(

Anyone had a similar experience and found a good way to relieve? Just want to be enjoying my lovely new baby

I would ring the ward where you gave birth and ask their advice.

Hi!
Congrats on your baby! I also had epidural twice during labour. And yes had awful back pain after. Was made worse by obviously bending down etc to change nappies/lift baby from cot. It was on my left side as i lay along time on that one side during labour and i think had some nerve damage due to that. It will last for sometime and my back has never been the same. Speak to GP hope you are ok xx

@Pinkygirl88 thank you so much, she’s amazing <3

ugh that sounds frustrating, i actually said no to epidural at the time because I’d heard it could cause chronic back pain. Shows there’s really no such thing as a birth plan eh 😂

thanks to you and @Sucessinthenewyear, think I’ll have to get it on record asap as def cant carry on like this

Just for anyone having the same issue, the doc gave me these exercises: www.tims.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/1.1-TIMS-Management-of-Back-Pain.pdf

they seem to be helping and it’s only been a few days 😁
