Private blood test

Hi all. If you've had bloods done to check eg thyroid or vitamin deficiencies, who did you use and how do they do it? Do they have centres dotted around the country where you go to get the bloods drawn?

TIA

Spire hospitals do private blood tests for vitamins & minerals & have places up & down the country. Thyroid would be extra again though.
You could ask your GP to do thyroid, iron, B12 & folate. The rest on this list from spire aren’t seen as ‘routine’ so they may not agree to the additional ones.

you can order at home tests and either prick your own finger or pay extra for a full blood test to be done. I’m a little wary though as I once did an at home vitamin D test that said I wasn’t deficient. A lab test at the dr showed I was so deficient I was prescribed a double dose of prescription vitamin D

Agree with Spire, although often they’ll want you to have a gp appointment beforehand to determine which bloods you need (they do private Gp appointments for about £80).

You might be wasting your money with things like medichecks etc as most doctors won’t take those seriously or refer you anywhere on the basis of them as they’re not a proper vein based blood test.

Thanks, I've had bloods done on the NHS, my GP can't seem to find the results despite the fact that I had a call back to say they're low and I've been told to take supplements but they won't retest after the advised 3m of taking supplements.

Just contemplating paying for a service to make things a bit more personal - even if I have to then pay Sad

I've used Medichecks. They have centres nationwide.
