Hi just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to manage painful ribs?
Have had pneumonia which caused me to cough so much I’ve hurt my ribs
Anyone else experienced this and how did you manage the pain?

Hot/warm compress. And just rest

I have this currently. Coughing caused the pain in early/mid December. It's finally getting to the point where I am no longer guzzling painkillers, but still need some daily. I look forward to the day when I am completely cured, feels a long way off.

Options I've been given are cocodomol (didn't do much for me); alternate ibuprofen and paracetamol (works well for me) or Nuromol (ditto but expensive). If you do the latter options make sure you take the ibuprofen with food, can cause stomach ulcers otherwise.

I also regularly use a hot compress thing, which helps a lot.

@TheLette that sounds so similar to me! It’s so debilitating isn’t it?
I feel the same way having been ill since 23rd December 😢
Alternating Ibuprofen and paracetamol sounds like a plan
Thank you

Oh also hug a pillow when you cough and try not to avoid coughing or breathing deeply. I also read a tip about coughing over your shoulder - that somehow seems to help make it less painful. I'm now on my third round of antibiotics for a chest infection which started in November, I thought it was ok last week after the second round ended but then I got chest infection symptoms again at the weekend. It's never ending.

An osteopath would be able to help with this - I've had it in the past.
