Odd one, pneumonia and eyesight

My eyesight has unexpectedly got worse.

I am really short sighted. I had my prescription checked at the end of June and got new glasses at the end of August, all fine.
At the end of September I saw an ophthalmologist as I had a detached retina which was treated with laser. In the follow up a month later, they rechecked my prescription, which has been stable for several years now, and was still fine.

A week later I was diagnosed with pneumonia, which I was pretty ill with for several weeks. As it seemed to be affecting my heart the dr sent me for a CT scan which revealed an undiagnosed pulmonary arteriovenous malformation. I’m now waiting to be seen by the respiratory team.

But since the pneumonia I’ve noticed problems with my eyesight. I’ve lost distance, and it seems more blurry than before. I need to book an appointment with my ophthalmologist to get it checked, but am I going to sound insane if I link it to the pneumonia? I’m still tachycardic after the pneumonia too.

Thanks for any advice!

I guess it’s possible for your bloods pressure to have been up during your illness which can cause problems with your retinas

Okay, thank you. I think I was a potential retina issue that’s worrying me.

I guess if I just explain what happened, they’ll have more idea than me anyway.

I’m just worried about it, after a detached retina, flu, pneumonia, and a lung problem I didn’t know I had, I’ve reached my coping max.

I'd recommend getting an eye exam asap. It could be one of many things (I could name about 50!) including a side effect from a medication.

Early detection and treatment is the best way of dealing with eye issues.

Thank you. I’m going to phone tomorrow.
