Hallux rigidus- Toe fusion operation

Has anyone had the operation I have been offered the op but I'm not sure. With my wide foot and stiff toes it's hard enough to find shoes already.

Also I thought the pain had got much worse but think it was a bout of gout and the pain is not too bad again even though the xrays show severe arthritis. I am now not taking pain meds daily like I was during the bout of gout

So have you had the operation. How was it, as silly as it sounds has it affected anything else like hips or knees or back etc.

Thanks in advance

@michealsmum1998 Hi! I've got this. Had it for years now and getting worse by the week, so painful. My xray showed a big bone spur. It got to the point where Podiatry have referred me to orthopeadics with a view to inject or operate, still waiting.
Have you been offered the injection? I want to put off an operation and see if I can have/an injection would work. I'm not keen on having weeks off work!

@Notaboutthebass mine is now too far gone. I had it about 5 years ago and it worked for Bout 2 years

Sorry to hear that. I'm scared of having the operation and I'm also struggling with footwear, very limited as to what I can wear now. It sucks!

Hi I had this in my little toe. I had the steroid injection and it has gone away totally. I'm awaiting an appointment with podiatry but no idea when that will come through

@workiskillingme that's great news. Who actually gave you the injection - GP?

How long since your injection?
Oh dear, there's always something isn't there/

@workiskillingme that's weird I also got plantar fasciitis in my opposite foot. So strange.

I got my injection at MSK with a scan due to bony growth.

It's like one foot plays ball then the other plays up I've never had a time where both feet are pain free 🙈
