… and it’s doing my head in.

Every time I go out to a big(ish) event I get a cold or the flu.

Christmas do- ill for 2 weeks.

Friends birthday - flu for 10 days.

Night out at a show - off work for 5 days.

It’s happening again and again. Doing my flipping head in!

Does anyone know what could be going on? Spoke to my GP and “there is a lot going around at the minute” yes no shit!

How can I improve my immune system? Does anyone have the same? Does anyone know what’s going on???

(Background- 35 and no health conditions. Take no medication. Had Covid in August)

Vitamin c and high strength odour free garlic capsules.

WorriedMillie · 14/01/2023 19:33

Have you tried that first defence stuff? My mum has been using it while on chemo and despite being exposed to covid and flu (that we know of), in enclosed environments, has dodged everything!

Covidwoes · 14/01/2023 19:37

High strength vitamin D! I haven't had a cold since September (have an issue with UTIs, but that's not contagious!) and I have two small kids and am a primary school teacher, so am surrounded by bugs! I started taking the high strength stuff after bloods showed I was low, and no colds or contagious bugs since the start of September! 👍

Lots of veg and fruit, vitamin D supplements. Hand washing! And lots of fresh air

My friend with long covid is like this, gets everything going.
She's back to wearing a mask at larger gatherings to try reduce incidence

bonzaitree · 15/01/2023 12:52

I take a multivitamin, vitamin D and fish oil every day.

Vitamin C, high strength vitamin D and echinacea drops.

Blinky21 · 16/01/2023 00:13

I haven't had a cold for years and years, I have no idea why but I swear by anti viral (not just anti bacterial) hand spray, vitamin D supplements and manuka honey daily. If I have an event coming up during the winter I use the Lemsip nasal spray before going out to crowded places too

Ineedtosleep79 · 16/01/2023 00:16

Literally just sleep. Sleep, sleep, sleep as much as you can. I NEVER have colds and the only time I do is if i am not getting enough sleep but pushing through the day anyway.

That and fruit juice (particularly pineapple/orange juice. Ones high in vitamin C).

That's it.

What are your Vitamin D levels like op?

And your diet? Do you eat a lot of fresh vegetables? A lot of immunity starts in our gut.
