D&V for 7 days

I know how much strain the health system is under just now but I'm not sure if I should be seeking medical advice.

Last Friday night, I developed quite sudden D&V. I was staying with family, and had eaten exactly the same as they had for the full day. No one else was sick.

It's now been a week and it's marginally less violent, but I'm feeling no better at all. Less vomiting but many episodes of diarrhea throughout the day and nights.

I'm exhausted (as you'd expect!), achey all over, constant nausea and stomach cramps. Headaches because I'm finding it hard to stay hydrated - drinking increases the nausea and toilet trips.

I'd presumed it was some kind of bug, but I'd normally expect to be at least starting to feel better by now.

I'm not too sure what a doctor or nurse could even do and I don't really want to take up resources, but this doesn't feel like a normal bug.

Didn't want to read and run but not too sure what to offer I'm afraid OP, only sorry that you're poorly! I agree that 7 days to still be feeling so unwell is a long time for a standard bug.

I guess a nurse might ask for a stool sample so they can investigate further? Once they know the cause, if it's bacterial or viral or etc, they might be able to give you something to help treat it? Hope you get it sorted and start to feel better soon!

Yes I think after 7 days it's likely to be bacterial so see the GP for antibiotics.

I got food poisoning in India and after 10 days of on and off diarrhea, and feeling terrible, it all stopped within a day of starting the ABs, I so wished I'd done it sooner!
