hi - after having no luck gaining advice from hv and doc i thought id ask the experts! had an emergency section 7 weeks ago and tbh i've recovered really well, but still followed the v littl advice i was givn eg not driving etc. i was just wondering what else i need to be careful doing and not doing - have been given little advice and scared because i feel so well i might do something i shouldn't. also i was v much into gym and now wondering what th dos n donts are. used to do lots of cardio n free weights, i'm guessing the free weights are out, but for how long? sit ups?

Congrats on your newborn! Just take it easy for the first few months. Don't go to the gym until your doctor says ok and limit your exercise to pushing the buggy - it will do more good than you realise!

hi kelbel. I think I waited about 10 weeks before I started doing some gentle yoga stretches and sit ups, then did the harder stuff, but very s-l-o-w-l-y. I was back at the gym at 12 weeks, just took it really really easy. TBH I was so desperate to feel strong again I forced myself to do it. I was really fit before so knew my limits and just took it from there. I did my pregnancy workout for a few weeks just to get back into it. As you were fit before you will hopefully find its pretty easy once you have a little go at exercise. But give it a few weeks yet.

I was walking 2 miles up the hill into town 5 days after my 3rd section. No choice as in the olden days shops didn't deliver like wot they do now.
Nothing fell out.
I reckon 7 weeks after you're ok to be doing whatever you did before although the thought of gym with a teeny baby!!!! Surely spare time is for sleeping!
