Is this normal? TMI pic attached - any dentists around?!

Hi all,
Yesterday 9am I had my 3rd upper molar extracted under sedation. Was really painful when I got home but round the clock pain killers helped completely. Have only taken 2 diesels of meds today and relatively pain free - bit sore and stingy but I guess that's to be expected? Does this look like a normal part of the healing process? I keep obsessing over dry socket and worrying myself as I have a huge phobia of the dentist anyway! (The reddish, orange tint on the extraction site I think is my tomato soup as it wasn't there half an hour ago) Blush

Retired dentist DH says this looks normal.

@MrsPutnamNaomiDarling That's really reassuring. Please thank your DH for me and thank you for showing him!

Looks normal! Keep it clean, salt water rinses after each meal for a week you'll be fine x

I wouldn't obsess about a dry socket. If you get/had one, you'd know about it pretty quickly. They're disgustingly painful.

Yes looks normal, if you get a dry socket, usually the pain will start in a couple of days. Make sure you do hot salt mouth rinses 3 times a day.

Try not to dislodge the clots as this can cause dry socket. Also do not suck on anything such as a straw as this action can dislodge the clot. It looks fine though, the clots are there. Good Luck!

I am now day 4/5. Is it still looking normal? No pain at all just feeling a little bruised but can't help thinking that it doesn't look normal at all!
