Sudden unbearable acute abdominal pain, that goes after an hour?

Just wondering what’s going on with me and if sounds familiar to anyone?

this evening, had very sudden acute pain in left hand side of abdomen, about level with tummy button. Sharp stabbing pain in the front and back but whole lower tummy also aching. Felt faint and sick. Lasted an hour then gradually eased and now pretty much fine.

it happen last week but less severe.

This time was so painful/ unmanageable DH did 111 app which said 999. Half way to a and e (we live 45 mins away, driving ourselves) it goes away, so on our way back now.

Assuming I should be seen by a GP but what’s going on?! If there a chance of it happening again over night? Anyone any reassuring words?

I have had this in the past with an ovarian cyst. The pain did come back over time but it took a few weeks so I'm not sure why the extreme pain early on. Your GP should refer you for an ultrasound.

It may also just have been trapped wind considering where your pain was. It can be pretty painful!

Also thought of trapped wind which can be much more painful than you imagine. It will come on and pass suddenly like that and can make you feel faint/nauseous. Other thought was gall bladder issues.

I also thought trapped wind. It sounds like a joke but it is agonising, makes you nauseous and unable to walk. DS had it recently at uni and thought he had appendicitis. I told him to go to bed with a hot water bottle and within an hour he was fine.

Trapped wind can be excruciating. Glad you’re feeling better now.

And constipation - DD was in agony with it recently and we had to go to A&E. Bit embarrassing but 111 did tell us to!

Gallbladder is right sided and a bit higher up than OP said so unlikely

I felt quite like this with a kidney stone initially, it eventually turned into the more classic pain in side/back and spasmic but initially it was just a really intense stomach pain that came on out of nowhere and then lasted for a relatively long length of time, before going almost as quickly as it came. I had a few episodes over the space of a week which I was ignoring as a weird tummy bug before I peed blood and realised what it actually was! Had more classic issues with it then before I had the surgery to remove it.

Thank you for the replies - been settling DS back to sleep.
will be hoping for a big fart/ poo then! If not will check with GP. Can still feel as shadow of the pain but nothing like before.
