Did you have symptoms? What were they? How did you eventually get diagnosed?

I’m having blood tests next week as GP wants to rule it out, so interested in others’ experiences.

Thanks in advance :-)

My partner has type 2 diabetes and in retrospect had the classic signs of having to pee quite a lot and having quite a thirst. However, what made him actually go to the GP was athletes foot which just wouldn't clear up. Also found to have high Blood Pressure and high cholesterol - so went from no medications to a carrier bag full!

Thanks for your reply @Rebelyells

These are my symptoms, too. My BP went up quite suddenly about a year ago, too, and cholesterol is borderline high. This is why the GP wants to test.

Its a bit of a shock, as I’m not overweight, don’t have a poor diet, don’t drink or smoke. No family history.

Fairly sedentary office job, though, and mid forties.

I suppose I’ll find out in good time, but I am a bit miffed!

My db got diagnosed. Thirst mainly. He does also have high bp, but this may be due to weight in his case. People have different risks of TTD and sometimes the genetics are not obvious - my parents are late 70s and neither has it, but two of my siblings got diagnosed at 40.
