Recurrent fevers - please help, losing my mind

Over the last two months I have had more episodes of fever than I have in the last few years. First one came on very suddenly and was quite high. I was seen in A&E as I'd recently had cataract surgery so they wanted to check it wasn't anything to do with that. They gave me antivirals as a precaution and I was improved the next day.

I then went on to have a low level cold virus with mild chilly feeling. Seemed to get better for about 2 days then I had my flu jab, which obviously raised my temp and made me feel a bit shit.

Then a couple of days after, I got another cold virus with chills but needed occasional paracetamol to manage with this one. Then my daughter got ill with a flu like virus on the first night of the Christmas holidays and I got it the day after. We had temps around 38 - 39 on and off for around 10-14 days. There was one day in the middle (Christmas eve) where I thought we were getting better but then it came back Xmas day. We were both feeling so ill we could hardly eat any Xmas Dinner. :(

I then had 1 or 2 days of feeling ok ish around New years eve but then on 2nd January I had the most awful abdominal and lower back pain and some uti symptoms. I had a temp of 38.9 at out of hours who gave me nitrofurantoin. It seemed to help a bit but not a well as it usually does. The fever eventually subsided after a few days but then yesterday it came back out of nowhere when I woke up in the morning and I was burning up all last night. So again, only about 2 days of feeling ok-ish. Saw Gp this morning who says it may not have even been a uti as I had two cultures sent off and both were clear. Sometimes it feels as though I have urinary retention and I have to lie down for my bladder to fill up properly. It feels like something is blocking it, maybe how bloated I am or my bowels or something.

I am really losing the plot with these constant high temperatures, I am utterly drained and worn out. Throughout all of this my bowels have been bad, loose yellowish stools one minute and constipated (still yellow) stools the next. I have to do 2 stool samples tomorrow. Also lots of nausea and other upper gi symptoms made worse as I have a hernia.

I am so very tired, feel malnourished form not being able eat much for weeks, my chest hurts, my back hurts, my stomach hurts, anxiety is through the roof... I just want to feel well. What is going on?!? Gp is no help and just says I've had a run of bad luck with viral illness and possible uti. All my bloods are fine apparently although still waiting for some. I can't shake the feeling that there's something really wrong. I felt so awful last night for no apparent reason. I don't know what's going on anymore. This has been such a shit couple of months.

I had the flu a week before Christmas, had a week of temperatures, then a few days later, diarrhoea and vomiting on Christmas Day with high temps, then a few days after that my toes on my left foot became Inflammed and yes, you guest it, more temps and ended up on antibiotics. I hurt everywhere and I’m tired too but I guess we have had a run of bad luck. Hope you start to feel better soon.

18yo DD had a fever for 2 months straight last year. It began a few weeks after she’d had spinal surgery so obviously the first concern was infection however due to blood tests + cultures all being consistently normal this was ruled out. She was sent to A&E by the GP and admitted over a weekend as it spiked to nearly 40 degrees but they still couldn’t find anything wrong with her.

It got to a point where the GP started testing her for every condition under the sun (inc. HIV!) and was also considering referring her to a cardiologist as sometimes long term fevers can be caused by endocarditis. The only thing that came back positive was her Epstein-Barr test, so after that they presumed it was a post-viral condition, similar to long covid. Eventually things settled down on their own.

Slightly concerned that things are kicking off again though - she had Strep 2 weeks ago and whilst all other symptoms are now gone after antibiotics, the fever still remains.
