Question about bladder issue and gp appointment and period

I am experiencing an issue with my bladder. I was debating all week whether or not to go to the doctor or not but I feel I have to now. I hope to make a doctors appointment on Monday morning for next week. I am also due my period within the next few more days and it was early last month.

I know a gp might likely do a urine dip test to see if there's a uti. Are there any other tests they do? Do they have an initial look inside the vagina for a prolapse perhaps?

If there is a test or a physical examination of some sort, would it be a better idea to estimate when my period will end and book an appointment for then instead. Wait for the period to pass before going to the GP.

I guess it depends on what the issue is. They might ask you if you can feel any bulges or anything before jumping to a vaginal examination. Definitely take a urine sample with you though.
