Coping with bed rest when you're depressed?

I (35F) am having surgery on my foot in February, and I'll be off my feet for at least two months. From other people's accounts, I'm expecting to be in my bedroom for most of this time.

I have suffered with depression on and off over the years and I'm worried about this resurfacing, as I use walks as a coping mechanism, and feel very fed up being cooped up inside.

Any advice on how to handle this?

Off your feet as in not able to put weight on it or as in total bed rest needed?
Would hiring a mobility scooter and being able to trundle along your usual uplifting routes, breathing the fresh air and watching spring growth keep you a little uplifted?

@HappyTalkingTalkingHappyTalk Total bed rest just for the first few days and then I have to avoid weight bearing. That's a lovely idea thanks, I'll definitely think about doing that!

Get loads of stuff together that you enjoy - books, video games, crochet, jigsaw puzzles, writing etc so that you have plenty of variety.

Also, lots of nice things to eat and drink. You could make phone calls to lots of friends to catch up with everyone.

Hope all goes well.
