Recurring bulged / slipped disc

NC as I've been harping on about this IRL.

Currently suffering with another slipped disc, this seems to happen at least once a year if not more.

It can usually be sorted with a few sessions with the osteo but it is so inconvenient (and painful 😫).

Has anyone had this and is there anything you have done that has worked to stop it coming back so often?

I used to do quite a lot of running and we noticed it would happen once I had upped the distance quite significantly (half marathon training) so I knocked those on the head and now never run more than 10k at a time. I know Pilates are good too and I've been hit and miss with that so determined to get into a proper routine again once the latest one has healed.

Any tips gratefully received!

Work on your core stability OP. Join a decent pilates class and get strength around your spine. Otherwise, it's about keeping mobile with low impact exercise, keeping your weight sensible and knowing that the incidence of disc problems reduces with age as they dehydrate.

You may already have tried physio, but I also have a recurring disc issue. If I up the physio it stops it getting too bad and the improvementis quite rapid. I'm sure you know this, but it's about the right sort of exercises building the surrounding muscles for support rather than stamina building which running is effectively.

Thanks guys, yep core needs to be the focus I think!! I didn't know about them dehydrating as you get older - every cloud 😃
