I'm due to have a tooth extracted 11/01 and I'm a bit nervous... I'll be having it out under conscious sedation and just wondered what the whole experience is like from start to finish? They did send me away with a sheet to read just after my pre-op but I've misplaced itBlush Is it administered through your hand or through a mask? Will I be awake and chatty or likely to be sleepy? Can I leave straight after? and how long will I be out of it/ woozy? Thanks for any experiences sharedSmile

I had it for an endoscopy (mini camera on tube down throat to examine stomach ) in October - a good experience.

It was a little cannula placed and taped in the crook of my arm while I was in the waiting area, then when I was in the exam room the small tube of sedation was plugged into it and left to take effect. That was very quick and I only remember a few vague moments of the test. No pain, discomfort or fear. I must have been wheeled to recovery area (don't remember), and came back to normal pretty fast. You must have someone to collect you afterwards and you must not drive, be in sole charge of children or make any important decisions for 24hours. I was back at work next day - felt fine in general, though.
