Help, I'm onto my 6th heavy cold since September.. normally I get 1 -2 bad ones per year. Has anyone got any immune boosting tips. I plan on cutting down on wine, eating more fruit and veg.. but any ideas for supplements?

Echinacea as a supplement. Also a multi vit. Particularly in the run up to your period when I’m prone to being run down and catching things
Cut alcohol, drink loads of water to stay really hyrdrated.
Good sleep, don’t overwork.
I have winters like this, cold after cold. It’s really depressing. No alcohol, plenty of water, sleep and vitamins helps. Sometimes I literally have to wait until we get some sunshine again to feel better.

Sambucol

Thank you for replying I used to be like this years ago and thought I was over it. Definitely going to try the ecinacia, I used to take that. Periods are really heavy there might be a link. I've also started going to the gym maybe that's not helping? It's so depressing I've felt rotten all day at work and I'm in for days, I've been wearing a mask to protect others.

Did you manage to find the trick OP to stop the pattern of catching colds?! I’m struggling with it atm

Whataretheodds · 08/04/2023 17:09

Definitely ease off the booze.
Reduce stress.
Physical exercise is good but don't overtrain - eat enough protein.

Get daily sunlight/fresh air
Vitamin D and B12
Sleep

I don’t really drink anymore but apart from walking I have to say I don’t do much exercise - do you think that could be part of the reason? My immune system just seems to be rubbish at the moment , I’m sure having covid twice hasn’t done me any favours

I am the same so fed up of constant illness. Since DD started nursery in Oct I've had a total of about 10 days not being ill.

I only work 3 days a week but keep having to call in sick because of either DD or myself (often both!). On my days off I have DD. We both feel ill and cranky. I love my days off with her but being ill and looking after an ill toddler is no fun. Then I'm back to work playing catch up.

I have tried so many supplements (multivit, B12, Vit D, Probiotics, Strath, Sambucol, Zinc, omega 3) been to GP for blood tests (no deficincies, no autoimmune disorders). I'm at my wits end, it's really getting me down. And DD still waking to breastfeed multiple times a night isn't helping.

Had to cancel Easter plans due to Hand, Foot and Mouth (again! We only had it in Dec!). My husband is usually immune to all but even he's got it this time.

We eat well, though too exhausted for much exercise.

Following for any advice...please!

Hi everyone, thanks for replying. No clue I have massively improved my diet, drinking prebiotic drinks and taking vitamins I'm coming down with another cold ffs.. think it's after covid or the vaccines..

I get quite a few, eat well, sleep well, take vits , exercise etc etc..makes no difference...i think its genetic...a neighbour has a dreadful diet, smokes lots, drinks gallons of fizzy drinks, no exercise and hasnt had a cold in over 20 years !

I am also in the same boat.
One cold after another. I am currently off work because I feel absolutely rotten.
I am a healthy person with a good diet and take vit c, d plus others.
This is my 6th cold in as many months.
I feel like i need a whole month off to properly recharge…
