Post viral fatigue

After viral gastroenteritis over Christmas, I now have post viral fatigue and I have never known anything like it.
I spend hours sleeping and even getting a shower just wipes me out.
Have you had this and how long did it last? Was there anything you did to give yourself more energy? I've got rehydration sachets but so far they're not touching it.

I had glandular fever at 16, my post viral Fatigue was horrendous - it lasted six months but glandular fever is known for this so it was not uncommon.
hopefully should had a few weeks until you’re immune system is back on form X

I am sorry to hear about your illness. My suggestion would be to rebuild muscle tone and improve nutrients absorption by rebuilding your gut flora.
Protein rich and easily digestible foods like eggs, lean meats (chicken, pork) and natural yoghurt can help. Vitamin C and Iron rich foods (and supplements)!for energy, strength and immune system boost.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

I’ve had post viral fatigue for a year, so awaiting diagnosis of ME/CFS which it seems to have turned into. Rest and time helped a bit but really there wasn’t anything I could do except rest.
