Sore area on upper back

Hi all,

Yesterday my back started feeling sore and its gradually getting worse. It's an area of my upper back on the right hand side but I can't pinpoint exactly where. It feels quite surface level, not deep, as though its a skin thing but visually it looks completely normal, no rash or redness. Its not constant, and I feel it more when I move around.

I feel a bit tired and achey but am generally well otherwise.

Based on a google all I can think of is that it could be early shingles before the rash has appeared, but I've really no idea. I've had shingles before, years ago, but only had a rash and no pain/other symptoms (diagnosed by a GP).

Any other ideas?!

Thank you!

I had this earlier this year. It was a band going around my bra strap area. Apparently you can have shingles without the rash. It was really sore, like I’d been burnt, but with no redness or anything. It was weird.

Hmm - I need to be a bit careful if it could be shingles as I've got a 2 week old niece and read babies under 1 month are high risk. I don't want to cause any panic (I've not held her for a week and don't think it can spread through the air) but need to be a bit cautious...

I had this, was really quite sore. Was my bra

I don't THINK it's in an area my bra strap is but I can't pinpoint it. Maybe I'll go braless tomorrow and see if it helps!!

Could it be indigestion or radiating from your stomach? Is it worse when your stomach is empty or goes away for a while after eating. Try some Gaviscon tomorrow and see if that helps. If it's a 'nudging' sensation between the shoulder blades.
