He had another severe asthma attack
It took two hours in resus to get his breathing under control then spent one night in the high dependancy and two nights on the ward.

He's much better still wheezy but seems to be managing.

I hate winter

poor thing, hope that the weather improves soon, and he doesn't have another bad do again.

Elibean · 03/02/2008 20:45

Oh Ali, not again...I'm so sorry. And so glad he's on the mend, long may it last and here's to spring. xx

Dr sent us back to hospital

They gave him nebuliser and monitored him and as his oxygen levels were staying at 95% they have let us home again.

Doctor said its a case of riding it out.

Oh poor thing and poor you. It's so frightening. I hate watching that pulse ox thing as it starts to dip.

Hope he's on the mend soon

alibobins · 05/02/2008 07:10

He's now woken up with no voice

When does it all end

My dd is almost 6, and she was in and out of hospital from age 1.5 to 4.5 with the same thing as your DS. I know exactly how you feel, but some children do grow out of it.

aDad · 05/02/2008 07:23

Sorry to hear this, I remember it's been a problem for you before.

DD1 spent 3 days in hospital in October and just these last 2 days her salbutamol use has gone up a lot and she needed quite a few puffs in the night - I'm a little worried we're heading for another stay there ourselves.

Best of luck with DS! Amazing how quickly they get better when it finally happens, so fingers crossed.

Thank you it really does help reading positive stories

At the moment I feel its one step foward and ten steps back.

Has there been any improvement today?

alibobins · 06/02/2008 08:17

He seems a bit better and slept better last night so fingers crossed he's on the mend

That's good.

I know you've had setbacks, but I think it's more likely that he keeps getting better from here

He seemed a bit off the day before but it came on pretty quick one minute he seemed ok then the next minute he was really struggling to breath

Last time it was viral induced.
