No injury or for any obvious reason my partner's knee has swollen massively , very red and hot.
Anyone else experienced this?

I'd call your GP in the morning, or 111 tonight. Could be an infection or an arthritic flare. If the latter, I think it's important to treat it straight after the first joint is attacked.

Will do
Much appreciated

I think this is important and you should be seen. Not to scare you but it could be a blood clot which would need immediate treatment.

Try NHS 111 online. It might be an infection so you want to get it checked out promptly.

WavingCatpaw · 23/12/2022 03:06

I would call 111, I think this could be something worth getting attention more quickly than the morning.

Could be gout - very very painful. Go to the GP asap, don't get put off before Christmas

Also could be bursitis, I had this on my elbow, it was very red and swollen..first time I got given antibiotics now I just need to let it run it’s course when it happens

You should go to a&e. It could be infection which needs to be treated quickly.

I had housemaid's knee in my 20s. Very painful and exactly as you describe. It took antibiotics to clear the infection and didnt need to be drained but jeezo it flipping hurt! No idea what caused it.
